Its About page states the company was founded in 1977 after acquiring the United States distribution rights to MM6125, developed in the early 1960s by Uniroyal Ltd., that it is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and that its products are sold only to pre-approved contractors. Its own press page reports that Sika acquired American Hydrotech Inc. and its Canadian affiliate, Hydrotech Membrane Corporation, and the site now presents the brand as Sika Roofing and Waterproofing; its contact page and current Garden Roof brochure give that business's address as Canton, Massachusetts rather than Chicago.
