Hydroguard is Hydrotech's lightweight ballast and insulation panel for protected membrane roofs over Monolithic Membrane 6125: a 2 ft x 4 ft Styrofoam extruded polystyrene board (ASTM C 578 Type VI, 40 psi, R-5 per inch at 75 F) topped with latex modified concrete, with tongue and groove long edges so the boards interlock. Standard Hydroguard has a nominal 3/8 in topping and weighs about 4.5 lb per square foot (2.375 in or 3.375 in overall with 2 in or 3 in of foam); Hydroguard Heavy has a 15/16 in topping and weighs about 11 lb per square foot. The maker says it is meant for flat roofs where stone ballast is not practical, accepts light foot traffic only (walkway pads or pavers are needed for heavier traffic), may need extra securement depending on site and wind, and should be shielded from sun until installed. Colors are natural gray (standard), red, green and tan.
