Ordinance O-2223-42, passed and adopted May 23, 2023 and effective June 22, 2023, amends Articles 6-I, 6-II and 6-IV of the Code of the City of Norman to adopt the 2018 International Building Code, 2018 International Existing Building Code, 2018 International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings, 2018 International Plumbing Code, 2018 International Mechanical Code, 2018 International Fuel Gas Code, the 2006 Energy Conservation Code and the 2020 National Electric Code. Its Section 15 amends Sec. 6-209 ("Adoption Of The Residential Code"), striking the 2015 edition and substituting the 2018 edition. Note that the city's Building Codes webpage cites O-2223-41 for this adoption; O-2223-41 was passed the same day but amends only Sec. 16-601, the Property Maintenance Code, and does not touch the building or residential code. The roofing FAQ separately confirms the applicable roofing chapter is the 2018 International Residential Code with Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission and local amendments.

Asphalt shingles shall be fastened to SOLIDLY SHEATHED DECKS in accordance with Section R803 or to the asphalt shingles manufacturer's installation instructions."
