Note that the City of Boulder is a home-rule jurisdiction separate from Boulder County, whose building code does carry a Class 4 requirement; the county requirement does not apply within the city.

Windborne debris zone = No." (Table R301.2(1) climatic and geographic design criteria, City of Boulder Municipal Code Section 10-5.5-2(g), 2024 IRC as amended). Roof coverings are also required to "resist the component and cladding loads specified in table R301.2(2), adjusted for height and exposure in accordance with table R301.2(3)" (Section 10-5.5-2(n), repealed-and-reenacted R902.1).
