Impact-resistant roofing
Not required — Boulder Revised Code 1981, Title 10, Chapter 5.5 (Residential Building Code), which adopts the 2024 International Residential Code with modifications, was reviewed in full, including its complete list of local amendments. Its roof-covering amendments repeal and reenact IRC Section R902.1 to require a Class A roof covering tested to UL 790 or ASTM E 108, and repeal and reenact Sections R905.7 and R905.8 to prohibit wood shakes and wood shingles; the chapter contains no impact-resistance, UL 2218 or Class 4 requirement. Note that the City of Boulder is a home-rule jurisdiction separate from Boulder County, whose building code does carry a Class 4 requirement; the county requirement does not apply within the city.

Windborne debris zone = No." (Table R301.2(1) climatic and geographic design criteria, City of Boulder Municipal Code Section 10-5.5-2(g), 2024 IRC as amended). Roof coverings are also required to "resist the component and cladding loads specified in table R301.2(2), adjusted for height and exposure in accordance with table R301.2(3)" (Section 10-5.5-2(n), repealed-and-reenacted R902.1).

9.195% combined (state 2.9% + Boulder County 1.335% + RTD/CD 1.1% + Boulder city 3.86%); home-rule self-collected.
