Chapter 9 (Roof Assemblies) is amended in exactly three places: Section R902.1 Roofing covering materials ("All roof coverings shall be required to be a minimum Class A, B or C" -- a fire-classification requirement under ASTM E108/UL 790, not an impact-resistance standard), Section R905.2.1 Sheathing requirements, and Section R908.3.1.1 Roof re-cover (barring a second layer of asphalt shingles). No other Chapter 9 section is touched. The ordinance also adopts by reference all Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission amendments to the 2015 IRC not separately amended by the city; the OUBCC's 2015 IRC Permanent Rule (OAC Title 748, Ch. 20, Subch. 5, Sec. 748:20-5-11.1, "IRC 2015 Chapter 9 Roof Assemblies," 3 modification items) contains no such provision either. No UL 2218, Class 4, or impact-resistance provision appears in either document.
Repair permit threshold
City of Yukon Ordinance No. 1414 (adopted Aug. 18, 2020), Sec. 204-138, states: "Section R105.2 Work exempt from permit is amended as follows: R105.2 Work exempt from permit. Where the existing roof covering is slate, clay, cement or asbestos-cement tile. 3. Where the existing roof has two or more applications of any type of roof covering. 4. Where the existing roof has one or more application of asphalt shingles additional applications of asphalt shingles shall not be permitted."
Deck & sheathing requirements
City of Yukon Ordinance No. 1414 (Sec. 204-138, Chapter 9 Roof Assemblies, adopted Aug. 18, 2020) amends R905.2.1 Sheathing requirements to read: "Asphalt shingles shall be fastened to solidly sheathed decks in accordance with Section R803 and to the asphalt shingles manufacturer's installation instructions."
Sales & use tax
Combined rate 8.85% inside Yukon city limits (state 4.5% + City of Yukon 4% + Canadian County 0.35%).
