It sets these criteria for one-by decking: "If the decking has gaps over one-half inch (1/2") and knot holes over one (1") inch in size it will need to be repaired. One of the following repairs is acceptable: If the knot hole is over one inch (1") in size, the board can be replaced with a solid board with no knot holes. Covering the knot holes and gaps with a minimum 26 gage galvanized sheet metal will be acceptable. The metal has to be securely fastened to the roof decking below the underlayment. Knot holes or gaps over four (4) inches wide cannot be repaired. The board must be replaced." The notice says County inspectors had been "writing field corrections on one-by decking materials that have large gaps and knot holes."
