VB Shield is a mechanically-attached synthetic roofing underlayment marketed as 25 times stronger and more durable than 15-lb felt, with lay-flat, water-resistant construction to resist warping, wrinkling and cold-weather cracking, UV-protective coating, and the manufacturer's proprietary SlipGuard skid-resistant surface. It ships in 48 in. by 250 ft. rolls. Its own code-and-standard-compliance table cites ASTM D226 Type II, ICC-ES AC207 (Acceptance Criteria for Polypropylene Underlayments), CSA A123.3, ASTM E108/UL 790 Class A fire, and CSA 220.1, with a reported 110.5 gsm total fabric weight, minimum MD/CD grab strength of 110/85 lb and MD/CD trapezoidal tear of 20/18 lb per ASTM D751/D2261. It is 100% inorganic (will not rot or mold), approved for both vented and non-vented roof applications, and carries a 50-year limited warranty.
