VB Guardian Plus is a four-layer, mechanically-attached woven synthetic roof underlayment for steep-slope applications under asphalt shingles, standing seam metal, synthetic and natural slate, and clay/concrete tile roofing, an upgraded variant of VB Guardian. It has a two-surface anti-slip coating with the fastening pattern printed on the material, installs with capped roofing nails or capped staples, is 100% inorganic, and is rated for up to 180 days of UV exposure. It ships in 4 ft. or 8 ft. by 250 ft. rolls (1,000 or 2,000 sq ft coverage). Its own technical specifications report an 80 gsm total fabric weight, MD/CD grab strength of 85/78 lb and 19/18% elongation per ASTM D751, and a 0.3 coefficient of friction per ASTM D1894. The manufacturer's site states its underlayments meet or exceed ASTM D226 and ASTM D4869, and applies a 50-year limited warranty across the VB Synthetics line.
