Natural Vermont roofing slate quarried and manufactured by Greenstone Slate in Poultney, Vermont, split and graded by hand. Greenstone lists nine standing colors (Unfading Gray, Unfading Gray/Green, Vermont Unfading Gray, Vermont Gray Black (Briar Hill), Non-weathering Mottled Green/Purple, Unfading Spanish Black, Vermont Clear Gray, Non-weathering Purple and Semi-weathering Gray/Green) plus seasonally available Vermont Strata Gray and Non-weathering Red, and states that Unfading Spanish Black is one of two colors not manufactured in its Poultney facilities. It is sold in five thickness grades: Standard Grade Selects (about 1/4 in., 680 to 780 lbs per square), Standard Grade Rough Texture (1/4 to 3/8 in., 900 to 1000 lbs per square, Class 3 hail rating), Architectural Grade (3/8 to 1/2 in., 1200 to 1600 lbs per square, Class 4 hail rating), Heavy Grade (1/2 to 3/4 in., 1800 to 2200 lbs per square, Class 4 hail rating) and Estate Grade (at least 3/4 in., 2500 to 3000 lbs per square). The slate carries a Miami-Dade County Notice of Acceptance (NOA No. 22-0419.12, expiring 03/16/27) and a 100-year limited warranty covering delamination or substantial deterioration, for replacement material only, FOB quarry.
