Nu-lok is Greenstone Slate's lightweight genuine slate roofing system. A batten and grid system creates an insulating space between the deck and the slate, and Greenstone states it uses up to 40 percent less slate than a traditional installation. Components are stainless steel and Galvalume, and Greenstone says the system was independently tested to meet hurricane zone resistance to high winds and has been installed on thousands of roofs since its introduction in the 1980s. Greenstone describes it as the world's first walkable slate roof.
