Tapersawn shakes and shingles cut by Anbrook Industries from Alaskan yellow cedar, which Anbrook notes is properly a cypress and is denser than Western Red Cedar, with a blond color that weathers evenly to silvery gray. It is usually installed untreated on roofs or sidewalls, and is offered as 18 or 24 in. x 5/8 in. tapersawn shakes and 16, 18 or 24 in. shingles, now also with a Number 2 grade label.
