Adopted codeBorough of Palisades Park - Building Department
No, Borough of Palisades Park, NJ does not require a permit for like-for-like roof replacement (Borough of Palisades Park - Building Department). No permit is needed under state law to reroof a detached one- or two-family house; a townhouse, other attached dwelling or any other building needs one. Those permits come from the Palisades Park Building Department, 275 Broad Avenue, phone 201-585-4108, office hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Where a roof permit is required, Section 116-3 of the Borough Code lists "Roofing one- and two-family" at $85 and "All other roofing and siding (cost of job)" at $30 per $1,000, with a $70 minimum building fee and a plan review fee of 20% of the permit fee. Applications use the standard State forms; asked "Can I use forms from another town?" the page answers "Yes. As long as they are the standard New Jersey State forms." The office calls when a permit is ready, and "Permits can be paid for using check or money order." The borough's contractor registration chapter names reroofing (see the registration details).
