All permitting, plan review, and inspections for Moffat County (outside the Town of Dinosaur) are handled by the Craig/Moffat Regional Building Department at Craig City Hall, 300 W 4th Street, Craig. Electrical inspections are deferred to the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.

It adopts the 2018 editions of the International Building, Residential, Existing Building, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Plumbing and Energy Conservation Codes as published by the International Code Council, together with the 2016 Manufactured Homes and Factory Built Housing Installation Handbook, superseding the County's adoption of the 2006 codes made on June 3, 2008, and enforceable from January 1, 2020. The resolution carries no exhibit and states no amendment, deletion or addition of any kind, so the County enforces the 2018 editions as published; the Craig/Moffat Regional Building Department administers them, which fixes who runs the counter rather than what the County has adopted. Chapter 9 of the Residential Code and Chapter 15 of the Building Code therefore apply as published, and neither the adopted codes nor the County requires impact-resistant roof coverings or names a UL 2218 or Class 4 standard.
