Adopted codeBorough of Longport - Building / Construction Office
No, Borough of Longport, NJ does not require a permit for like-for-like roof replacement (Borough of Longport - Building / Construction Office). No permit is needed under state law to reroof a detached one- or two-family house; a townhouse, other attached dwelling or any other building needs one, from the Borough of Longport construction office, 2305 Atlantic Avenue, Longport, NJ 08403. The office's permit checklist gives "Office: 609.823.2731 ext. 109" and the email [email protected]; the Borough page gives hours of "Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 4 pm." Where a roof permit is required, section 75-5 of the Borough Code (amended through Ord. No. 2026-01) prices renovations and alterations at "$30 per $1,000 of estimated cost of work for the first $50,000," and says "Minimum fee for the building subcode shall be $60." The Borough's online code lists newer laws not yet read here, so confirm the current fee with the office. The Borough also requires its own construction contractor licence for work of $1,000 or more (Chapter 111); see the registration details. Work hours are limited: "Construction is permitted Mon. - Fri. 8am. to 6pm & Saturday 8:30am to 4:30 pm," with no construction on Sundays and listed holidays.
