Building permit applications are submitted at Limon Town Hall, 100 Civic Center Drive. The Building Department page publishes the permit application form (with insurance disclosure), building permit fee schedule, building standards, adopted building codes, and a Guide for Single Family Re-Roofing.

Per the town's single-family re-roofing guide, the roof will be inspected: the permit holder must call for the inspection(s) required by the jurisdiction, and a mid-roof inspection may be required for tile, metal, and special roofs.

The Town of Limon adopted the following codes on June 8, 2023: the 2018 International Building Code, 2018 International Residential Code, 2018 International Mechanical Code, 2018 International Fire Code, 2018 International Fuel Gas Code, 2018 International Energy Conservation Code, and the 2009 ICC/ANSI A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities Code.

Not required — The Town of Limon's codified Code of Ordinances, Chapter 150, Uniform Building Code, was read in full. Sections 150.001 through 150.009, most recently amended by Ordinance 638 on June 8, 2023, adopt by reference the 2018 International Building, Residential, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire, Fuel Gas and Energy Conservation Codes and the 2023 National Electrical Code, each with its own enumerated amendment list; the Building Code carries sixteen amendments and the Residential Code twenty-three, all read. Beyond administrative matters, fees, penalties, alarms, accessible housing, electric-vehicle charging, solid-fuel appliances and the deletion of the residential sprinkler section, the only roofing amendments are the replacement of Building Code Section 1507.1.2 and Residential Code Section R905.1.2 to require an ice barrier on roofs with a slope of four in twelve or less. No other amendment touches Chapter 9 of the Residential Code or Chapter 15 of the Building Code. Section 150.010, enacted by Ordinance 649 on April 2, 2026, adopts the 2025 Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code, 8 CCR 1507-39, and designates the wildland-urban interface areas shown on the state Fire Intensity Classification map within the Town's boundaries; that code requires a Class A roof covering tested to ASTM E108 or UL 790 where 25 percent or more of the roof surface is replaced, at Sections 101.6 and 403.2, which is a fire classification independent of impact rating, and the code sets no impact-resistance requirement. Neither the adopted codes nor any Town amendment requires impact-resistant roof coverings or names a UL 2218 or Class 4 standard.

The January 2026 DR 1002 prints Limon's city row at 2.75% with a 2.75% use tax, and Lincoln County at 2%; this corrects an earlier 6.90% figure built on the 2% city rate printed in the June 2019 edition. No RTD/SCFD/RTA district applies -- Lincoln County is on Colorado's eastern plains, outside the Denver metro RTD/SCFD boundary and outside any regional transportation authority.
