Adopted codeTownship of Cinnaminson - Construction Office
No, Township of Cinnaminson, NJ does not require a permit for like-for-like roof replacement (Township of Cinnaminson - Construction Office). No permit is needed under state law to reroof a detached one- or two-family house; a townhouse, other attached dwelling or any other building in Cinnaminson needs one from the Township construction office, 1621 Riverton Road, Cinnaminson, 856-829-6000 extension 5 (the Building Inspections line on the office's page). The office's own permit guide lists "Roof: Building (Commercial only)," while the Township's Code Enforcement and Zoning FAQ says a new roof needs a permit "under most circumstances" and advises calling the Construction Department at extension 2312. Where a roof permit is required, section 265-7 of the Township Code (amended April 21, 2014 by Ord. No. 2014-8) says "The subcode fee for a permit to replace roofing or siding on a residence shall follow the schedule in Subsection A(1)(b) above," which charges "Up to $50,000: $30 per $1,000," then $23 per $1,000 for the next $50,000 and $19 per $1,000 above $100,000. The office says "Municipal Construction Permits WILL NOT be issued without proof of registration from any contractor working on your home" and lists "roofing and siding" among home improvements. The permit must be posted on the site with a copy of the approved plans, and the page warns that "State law mandates that the Construction Official issue a fine to any person who performs work without a permit if the construction is of a nature which requires a permit." Building inspections are made Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The construction permit application and subcode technical sections are posted on the Township's page as PDF forms.
