Manufacturers / Glendyne

A slate quarrier and manufacturer at Saint-Marc-du-Lac-Long, Quebec, which describes its deposit as the largest slate quarry in North America. The deposit was found during construction of the Transcontinental Railway in the early 20th century, worked briefly by Europeans until the First World War, and brought back into operation in 1995 by a group of local entrepreneurs. Glendyne extracts slate blocks, processes them in its nearby plant into roofing slate and decorative slate, and sells through distributors.
