Established in 1953 (its own homepage identifies it as "formerly RSMCA"), GARCA states its purpose is raising Georgia roofing industry standards through networking, education, and voluntary self-regulation. Because Georgia does not require a state roofing license, GARCA also administers its own voluntary licensing program for both residential (steep-slope) and commercial (low-slope) contractors.
