Urban Rooftop Farming is ZinCo's build-up for growing vegetables and fruit on roofs, centered on the Floradrain FD 60 neo drainage element under a TG filter sheet and Zincoblend F growing media, over an ISM 50 protection mat and an optional WSB 100-PO root barrier. With about 8 in of media the maker lists crops such as lettuce, onions, herbs, zucchini, squash, cabbage, melons and strawberries, and recommends 12 to 16 in for tomatoes, beans and cane or bush fruit. It prints a build-up height of about 9 3/4 in, a saturated weight of about 61 lb per square foot and water storage of about 2.5 gal per square foot, recommends organic fertilizer and avoiding overfertilizing, and says wind, structure and runoff must be addressed in planning.
