Root Barrier WSF 40 is ZinCo's loose-laid root barrier for extensive green roofs, a seamless black tarp of low-density polyethylene about 0.01 in (0.34 mm) thick and about 0.06 lb per square foot, which the data sheet describes as root resistant, resistant to humic acids, compatible with bitumen and polystyrene and UV-stabilized. It is laid over a non-root-resistant waterproofing with overlaps of at least 5.0 ft, taken up above the growing media at edges and penetrations, with an allowance of about 20% to 30% for overlap and waste, and comes folded in 6.6 ft and 5.0 ft wide rolls or a 215 sq ft pack. ZinCo lists it as the optional root barrier in its Sedum Carpet, Ornamental Sedum and Perennial Garden build-ups. The sheet's tensile figures carry temperature conversions that do not match their own Celsius values (it prints 2.8 F beside 20 C and 102.8 F beside 120 C).
