Stainless steel split flashings for sealing existing roof penetrations that a one-piece sleeve cannot slide over, such as structural steel, cooling tower supports and pipes, offered as an alternative to pitch pans. Section J of the Thaler catalog lists the SPJ-1 round split flashing with a split coolie-hat cap, the SPJ-2 round with a vented cap, the SPJ-3 square with a four-piece split cap and the SPJ-4 square with a contoured vented cap. Each has a split sleeve with integral deck flange, an EPDM triple pressure grommet seal at the cap and continuous EPDM seals at the split joints, with clips that snap the friction-fit sections together; the catalog says they can be reused on re-roofing if removed carefully. It cites CSA B272-93 and a 20-year warranty against leaks and defects, voided by any caulking.
