Roof relief vents that let moisture vapor and gas pressure escape from under low-slope roof membranes to reduce blistering, ridging and buckling. Section G of the Thaler catalog lists the RV-1, a metal vent with integral deck flange and an insert filled with loose mineral wool; the RV-2, 12 in. high with a 4 in. inside diameter, a removable conical hood, premolded urethane insulation and a T-8 bitumen protection sleeve; and the RV-3 one-way relief vent, whose EPDM diaphragm keeps outside air from entering, for sensitive interiors such as refrigerated spaces. Vents come in aluminum or copper, with one vent per 1,000 sq. ft. of roof recommended, and deck flanges can be PVC coated, contact-cement coated for EPDM or bituminous painted. The catalog gives a 20-year warranty against leaks and defects.
