Hand split and resawn western red cedar shakes from Teal-Jones, in 18- and 24-inch lengths with 1/2-inch Medium, 3/4-inch Heavy and 1-inch Jumbo butts, graded Premium, #1 and Teal Prime Cut #1. The product details sheet prints 7 1/2-inch exposure for 18-inch and 10-inch exposure for 24-inch shakes, hip and ridge caps, and CCA, Class B and Class C pressure treatments. Teal lists third-party inspection by QAI, UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance and a Miami-Dade NOA for its cedar products; its application instructions call for interlay felts and two corrosion-resistant fasteners per shake.
