TAMKO Shake Underlayment is a non-perforated organic felt saturated with asphalt, made in Joplin, Missouri, and applied over the roof deck before wood shakes or wood shingles are installed. It comes in 18 in by 120 ft rolls with laying lines at 8 and 10 in. TAMKO publishes a Shake Underlayment data sheet and a No. 30 ASTM Shake Underlayment data sheet; the No. 30 ASTM version is listed as a UL prepared roofing accessory, UL classified in accordance with ASTM D226 Type II, with 160 sq ft of coverage per roll.
