Certi-Split brand cedar shakes produced entirely by hand with a steel froe and mallet, with the natural shingle-like taper achieved by reversing the block end-for-end with each split. S&W describes tapersplits as a traditional shake not commonly made anymore, available only in Premium Grade (100% edge grain), 24 in. length, 1/2 in. thickness, 4 in. to 14 in. widths, and up to 10 in. roof exposure.
