Certi-Grade brand cedar shingles sawn on both sides with a relatively smooth face and back; "Five X" is the trade term for all cedar shingles that are 16 in. in length, in all grades, taking its name from five 16 in. shingle butts stacked together equaling 2 in. Available in Number 1, Number 2, and Number 3 grades, 0.40 in. thickness, 4 in. to 14 in. widths, and 5 in. roof exposure, in Western Red Cedar and Alaskan Yellow Cedar. S&W notes the reduced exposure produces a true 3-ply roofing system.
