Slate Shake is a 26 gauge galvanized steel roof panel profiled to look like slate or cedar shake, with a 5/8 inch step every 16 inches along the panel. Panels are custom-cut full length (the product page gives up to 28 ft) with 2 ft 8 in lengths for small areas and an anti-siphon water-channel system. The spec sheet says it can be installed over existing shingles or over 1 x 4 inch horizontal strapping with approved building paper, for residential, commercial and industrial roofs, and it is offered in Weather XL and Crinkle SMP colours. Steel Tile publishes a limited 40-year SMP paint-film warranty, with shorter terms for Bright Red; its colour and chalk limits run 30 years.
