Western Red Cedar tapersawn shakes from Star Lumber's Mission, British Columbia mill, with a smoother, more tailored face than handsplit shakes; Star Lumber says they look similar to a shingle but are applied like a shake because of their thickness. They are offered as Star Lumber and Green River Premium Grade, Number 1 Grade and Number 2 Grade. Star Lumber's raw (untreated) limited warranty covers taper sawn shakes at 35 years for 18/24 in. x 5/8 in., rising with butt thickness to 40 years at 3/4 and 7/8 in., 50 years at 1 in. and up to 75 years at 2 in. and over on 24 in. shakes, subject to registration and the same state exclusions for untreated product.
