Western Red Cedar shakes that are handsplit and resawn and then edge trimmed, giving the rough look of a split face, made at Star Lumber's mill in Mission, British Columbia. Star Lumber offers them as Star Lumber and Black Hawk Premium Grade and Star Lumber and Green River Number 1 Grade Select and Number 1 Grade. Its registered raw (untreated) limited warranty runs 35 years for 18/24 in. x 1/2 in. split and resawn shakes, rising with butt thickness to 40 years at 3/4 and 7/8 in., 50 years at 1 in. and 75 years at 2 in. and over on 24 in. shakes; it is pro-rata after the first year, requires registration by certified mail within 30 days with five Star Lumber labels, and does not apply to untreated shakes installed in a list of southern and Gulf states unless they are fire treated or CCA treated under separate warranties.
