"Original" Simplex Cap Nails
The "Original" Simplex Cap Nail is a hi-carbon steel hand-drive cap nail with a welded 1-inch plastic cap, used as a base sheet, thin insulation, base flashing, asphalt/aluminum/slate/tile shingle, and metal batten fastener, and as a perimeter wood-nailer fastener for nailable coping, cant strips, and equipment, skylight, expansion-joint, and vent curbs. It is offered with smooth or annular-grooved shanks in lengths from 1/2 inch to 3 inches, in bright, yellow-dichromate electro-galvanized, or hot-dip galvanized (Rust-Lok) coatings, and is packaged in 25 lb and 50 lb boxes. The data sheet reports an APA (American Plywood Association) FFN-105b Type II, Style 20 approval and average pullout resistance of 81-224 lbf across plywood and pine-plank substrates.
