Sharkskin Ultra SA
Sharkskin Ultra SA is Kirsch Building Products' self-adhered (peel-and-stick) version of the Sharkskin Ultra substrate, combining the same woven- polypropylene scrim and coated slip-resistant surface with a synthetic butyl-blend adhesive backing under a split-release liner. It is used as a secondary water barrier and ice barrier under metal, tile, slate and asphalt shingle roofs, adheres down to 10 F without a primer, is rated -40 F to 280 F, ships in 48-inch-wide rolls, and carries a 50-year warranty. Its own CSI architectural specification cites ASTM D1970 (self-adhered underlayment) testing, and ICC-ES ESR-1708 lists it as an alternative to ASTM D226 Type I and Type II felt, evaluated under AC48 (self-adhered ice-barrier underlayments) and limited by the report to plywood substrates. It is self-adhered rather than mechanically attached, unlike the other Sharkskin underlayments in this ESR family.
