Sharkskin Ultra Radiant
Sharkskin Ultra Radiant is Kirsch Building Products' mechanically-attached synthetic underlayment with an attached reflective (radiant-barrier) layer for metal, slate, tile and shingle roofs, marketed to exceed California Energy Code cool-roof requirements by reducing attic heat gain. It shares Sharkskin Ultra's woven-polypropylene scrim and coated slip-resistant surface with a bottom reflective layer added, is gray with yellow/gold printing, and has a nominal weight of 5.5 lb per 100 sq ft. It installs with 3/8-inch roofing nails, is rated -40 F to 280 F, up to 12 months UV exposure, and carries a 50-year warranty. ICC-ES ESR-1708 lists Sharkskin Ultra Radiant as an alternative to ASTM D226 Type I and Type II felt under the 2006-2018 IBC/IRC, mechanically attached at minimum 4-inch head laps and 6-inch end laps.
