Purple-Roof is a Sempergreen green roof system that adds an engineered detention layer to green roof retention so that stormwater is held on the roof and released slowly. Its build-up, from the top, is a vegetation layer, engineered soil media, needled mineral wool, a honeycomb reservoir and the detention layer. The maker says the build-up can delay discharge for up to 24 hours and puts the detention load requirement at 8 to 12 lbs per square foot. It is marketed for US projects that must meet local stormwater or green roof requirements, as an alternative to at-grade stormwater tanks.
