X-Gard 2.0 is S-5!'s heavy-duty two-pipe snow retention system for standing seam metal roofs, which S-5! calls the most robust two-pipe system on the market; a one-pipe X-Gard 1.0 is sold for lighter needs. It attaches without penetrating the panel, using a double-clamp design in which each one-piece bracket holds both crossmembers and mounts on standard S-5! clamps. The crossmember is the proprietary octagonal NEX 2-inch pipe of high-tensile aluminum, spanning up to 48 inches between clamps and cantilevering up to 20 inches past the last clamp, with an engineered splice that allows for thermal expansion. The finished system sits 7 to 9 inches above the panel, and optional X-Clip II and X-Clip III clips with a rubber foot slow snow sliding beneath it. S-5! positions it for insulated metal panel roofs with 36- to 48-inch seam spacing and for solar PV roofs needing extra height, and says it can be painted, powder-coated or anodized. The product page gives a 7-foot 8-inch nominal pipe length, while the brochure drawing labels the NEX 2.0 pipe 8.00 feet.
