rooflite intensive base is a lower-layer growing medium from Skyland USA for deep intensive green roof systems, placed beneath rooflite intensive with no separation fabric between the two. It provides more aeration and less organic matter for the deeper root zone, can be combined with rooflite drain, and is normally used where media depth exceeds 18 inches, depending on the build-up. The line is offered in saturated weight classes 600 (60-70 lbs/ft3), 700 (70-80 lbs/ft3), 800 (80-90 lbs/ft3) and 900 (90+ lbs/ft3), numbered by typical fully saturated weight per ASTM E2399, and not every class is available in every region. It is sold by the cubic yard and delivered in bulk, super sacks or one cubic foot bags.
