Automatic melt-out (drop-out) roof heat and smoke vents whose white translucent acrylic glazing, single or double glazed with a clear inner pyramid, is stated to drop out in less than 5 minutes at temperatures not exceeding 500 F. Models 417 and 418 have a 12 in. aluminum curb with 1-1/2 in. insulation and a 2 x 4 wood nailer, Models 417D and 418D a 12 in. double wall insulated curb normally used on membrane roofs, Models 417-MB and 418-MB a double wall curb flanged for standing seam metal roofs, and Models 407 and 408 (also known as 411) mount on curbs by others and are labelled non-rated by the maker. Frames are 6063-T5 extruded aluminum with plastic snap-on counter-flashing, in 5050 and 5098 sizes, and the maker states the vents can be retrofitted onto existing built-up and metal building roofs.
