WoodStart is Owens Corning's laminated two-ply starter strip shingle made to match Woodcrest and Woodmoor shingles in color and profile. Its January 2026 data sheet gives a 40 in. x 13 3/8 in. piece, 16 pieces and 53.33 lineal ft. per bundle, a nailing area about 1.5 in. wide, and a continuous sealant strip that bonds the starter to the first course at the eave; Owens Corning says one piece meets the ply requirement where other makers call for two, and that it can also be run up valleys as a bleeder strip. The sheet states WoodStart is laboratory-classified as a UL 2218 Class 4 impact-resistant shingle, that the result does not guarantee it will resist all weather, and that hail damage is excluded from its warranty.
