A base sheet made from an inorganic fiberglass mat coated on both sides with oxidized, weathering-grade asphalt and surfaced with white sand fines to prevent sticking in the roll. It is designed as the base layer in Mule-Hide torch-applied modified bitumen systems and may also be used in built-up roofing, attached by mechanical fasteners or hot asphalt over steel, concrete or wood decks; set in a solid mopping it can serve as a vapor retarder. Rolls weigh about 78 lb and cover about 325 square feet. The product page states it meets ASTM D4601 Type II; the data sheet notes code approvals including FM, UL, Miami-Dade and Florida Product Approval, with ratings available from the maker.
