Shingles, Green and Kiln Dried
Western Red Cedar shingles from Miller Shingle Company, circular sawn on both sides from old-growth logs. Miller states that Number 1 green shingles are the ones generally used on roofs, that green shingles should not go on sidewalls, and that shingles for sidewalls should be kiln dried to 10 to 13 percent moisture content. Fire rated and CCA treatment are available.
