The Upright Safety Bar is Milcor's hinged steel grab bar for climbing through a roof hatch, mounted at the side of the opening and raised to stand about 42 in. above the ladder, where it locks automatically when fully extended. The product page says it is designed for hatches 4 ft. and smaller on the ladder side, is painted bright yellow, and ships separately or assembled to a hatch.
