IB-3 ShingleStarter is a 50 mil, self-adhering, mineral-surfaced shingle-starter roofing underlayment that serves both to replace conventional starter strips and to give ice and water dam protection in cold climates, with two self-sealing tabs about 1.5 inches from each edge kept clean under removable release liners until the shingles are laid. It installs at edges and valleys above 40 F on slopes of 2 inches per foot or more and may be left exposed for up to 30 days; it ships in 36-inch by 65-foot rolls.
