Figure 1005 is Smith's 15-1/4 in. siphonic roof drain for engineered siphonic drainage systems, which the product page says clear heavy water accumulations faster than conventional roof drains and allow smaller pipe and a single point of discharge. It is Duco coated cast iron under a polyethylene dome strainer, installs from above the deck on flat roofs of any construction, and comes as the standard 1005Y with a no-hub outlet or with a top-mount deck extension plate, a deck plate or a 2 in. water dam. The page says a siphonic system should be approved by a plumbing engineer licensed where it is installed.
