IKO Hip & Ridge Class 4

UL 2218 Class 4

Hip & Ridge Class 4 is the impact-resistant version of IKO's three-piece hip and ridge cap shingle: the same perforated, tapered 36 in. x 13 1/4 in. format as Hip & Ridge 12, with polymer-modified asphalt added for impact resistance. IKO's technical data sheet (04/2026) lists it with an FM 4473 / UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance rating, alongside ASTM D3161 Class F and ASTM D7158 Class H wind and ASTM E108 / UL 790 Class A fire. IKO pairs it with Class 4 field shingles such as Nordic.

IKO states that the Hip & Ridge Class 4 impact rating is presented for the sole purpose of enabling residential property owners using these cap shingles with impact-resistance-rated shingles to obtain a reduction in their insurance premium, if available; it is not a guarantee of impact resistance against hail, and hail damage is not covered under the limited warranty.
