Cool-Vent is a venting nail base composite insulation board: a 4 by 8 foot panel of closed-cell polyisocyanurate, a layer of solid wood spacers creating a standard 1 inch air space, and a top layer of APA/TECO rated OSB or plywood, meant to solve steep-slope ventilation problems under shingles. The product page states it exceeds ARMA Tech Bulletin 211-RR-24 on minimum air-space depth and lists ASTM C 1289 Type II, Class 1 Grade 2 (20 psi), IBC Chapter 26, Florida Product Approval FL 5968 and Miami-Dade County Product Control approval. The technical data sheet offers 1.5 and 2 inch spacers for deeper air space, describes a 92 percent open air space with spacers under 12 inches apart, and lists it in UL 790, UL 1256 and UL 263 assemblies and under FM 4450 and FM 4470.
