GreenGrid Ultra-Extensive and Extensive Modules
GreenGrid's shallowest modular green roofs are pre-grown 2 ft x 2 ft trays in two depths: a 2.75 in ultra-extensive module at about 10 to 15 lb per square foot and a 4 in extensive module at about 26 to 30 lb per square foot, both fully vegetated at maximum water-holding capacity. They are planted with succulent groundcovers, typically sedum, and water-conserving accent plants. The maker describes the 4 in module as the standard for most functional, incentive or code-driven installations, usually needing no irrigation, while the thinner soil of the 2.75 in module may need more watering or permanent irrigation depending on location. Both mix with the deeper modules on one roof and accept GreenGrid edging, hardscape, mineral wool storage layers and tray inserts that add internal void space for stormwater.
