Gardner Metal-X (SK-8055, also sold as Sta-Kool 805 Metal-X) is a white elastomeric roof coating formulated for bonding to metal roofs, with rust inhibitors, that expands and contracts with the roof and which the maker says keeps metal roofs an average of 50 degrees cooler than uncoated metal. Its technical data sheet calls for a seam coat and then two full coats at about 90 square feet per gallon per coat, states it is not intended for ponding-water areas, and warrants the product free of material defects for 10 years, noting that color tinting voids the warranty.
