WeatherBlocker Premium Starter Strip Shingles are GAF's extra-wide starter course, which GAF says is designed to be compatible with all GAF asphalt shingles. Factory-applied Dura Grip adhesive helps lock down shingle edges at the eaves and rakes to reduce the risk of blow-off, and the pre-perforated strip is used full (17 in.) for shingles with 6 in. or greater exposure or torn into 8.5 in. half pieces for exposures under 6 in. GAF says using its starter strips with special installation can unlock increased wind coverage on many GAF shingles, and the product is eligible for a Lifetime Limited Warranty only when installed with GAF Lifetime shingles and qualifying GAF accessories (the page prints both "at least two additional" and "at least 3" qualifying accessories for that coverage).
