Timberline Solar ES 2 is the GAF Energy nailable solar energy shingle that installs alongside Timberline asphalt shingles, by the same crew and tools, to form an integrated solar roof without racked panels. GAF prints a Pmax of 57 W (plus or minus 5%) per energy shingle, which it calls a 23% improvement over its first-generation solar shingle, nominal dimensions of 68 3/4 in. x 16 7/8 in. x 1 in., a weight of 10.1 lb, about 30 energy shingles (1.7 kW) per square, an allowed roof pitch of 2:12 or greater, and an average ambient temperature range of -40 to 122 F. Listed standards are UL 3741 rapid shutdown (NEC Article 690.12), UL 7103 BIPV system certification, a UL listing to ANSI/UL 790 Class A fire, ASTM D3161 Class F wind, and UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance, the last only for shingles sold in packages bearing the Intertek-ETL Class 4 listing statement; GAF excludes hail damage, including reduced solar output, from its limited warranties. GAF says the shingle is assembled at GAF Energy's facility in Georgetown, Texas.
