Tiger Paw Premium Roof Deck Protection is GAF's premium synthetic roof underlayment, a non-woven, non-asphaltic polypropylene sheet that GAF says will not rot or become brittle and resists the wrinkling and buckling that can telegraph through shingles. GAF claims at least 600% greater tear strength than standard #30 felt (per its own ASTM D4533 trapezoidal tear testing), a walkable installer surface, a moisture-control design, and UV-stabilized construction that resists UV degradation for up to 180 days; GAF stresses the sheet is water resistant but not waterproof and must not be used as a temporary roof. It is recommended for asphalt shingle roofs and may be used under slate, wood, metal or tile with GAF's approval. GAF states it achieves an ANSI/UL 790 Class A fire rating as a component of UL Classified roofing assemblies, and says it can be used to comply with certain FORTIFIED Roof requirements in the U.S.
