Shingle-Mate Roof Deck Protection is a fiberglass-reinforced asphalt roofing felt used beneath asphalt shingles to resist wind-driven rain infiltration. It lies flatter than conventional organic felt to reduce wrinkle telegraphing through the finished shingle roof and is lighter than a comparable No. 30 asphalt felt. GAF's data sheet states the product "meets or exceeds the physical requirements of ASTM D226, Type II and ASTM D4869."
